The LORD had said to Abram “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Gen 12:1-3 NIV
As God’s children, He speaks to us. He tells us of the great things He is going to do in our lives and gives us promises of how He’ll change our lives. But the first question is, when God speaks, should we be expecting it to happen now or sometime in the future? The second question is; when God has spoken will I or should I be expecting to go through hard times?
When God speaks, He will mostly speak in present continuous tense. In other words, what He has spoken it’s not just words for the present (now) but also for the future. So to answer the first question, when God speaks, iit is for the present time where we’re in (that is now) but sometimes it also is for the future. The most important thing to understand is, when God speaks we have to play our part. Playing our part (that is doing what He asks us to do) is only the beginning of the process to what He has promised us. Faith and trust are the two main elements required in playing our part.
Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a while because the famine was severe.
Gen 12:10 NIV
To answer the second question, When God speaks it does not mean we’ll never go through hard times (sometimes because God has spoken, things get harder). But faith and trust in God are the two key elements to obeying the voice of God.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Jer 29:11 KJV
Once God has spoken, His main aim is to get us prepared for His promises. This will mean training (just as any sport person will need to train to get to the highest level they can reach) and planning. But once He has said He will sure do it (num 23:19).
God bless you.
