Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:1-2 (NIV)
First, come to an understanding that there are things that we do, things we say and even thoughts that we think that have the power to (and often does) render us ineffective in our relationships with God and everyone around us that we need to stop. I’m not talking about perfection but what I am talking about is letting go of our pleasures, desires, thoughts and things we do and say that we know if we hold on to, it will cause us not to be effective and eventually destroy us.
A quick insight into my life; I was addicted to pornography. It is only by the Grace of God I am being set free. I use the word ‘being’ not because God has not fully set me free but because I now have an understanding of how to remain set free and now that I have the knowledge given to me by God I now need to continue walking in that understanding and knowledge.
